I applied it 3-4 minutes before and the numbness kicked in a few seconds later. We were worried that my man wouldn't feel a thing during penetration, thinking he might get desensitized as well, but nope he was not numb. However, I do recommend a lubricant with this cream and I like to use a silicone-based lube, it slides so much better.
